ESPN and the NCAA announced Tuesday that the network will air the Division I Field Hockey Championship semifinals and finals through at least 2023.
UNC is the two-time defending NCAA champion and will have a chance to make it three in a row this May, when the event is held at the on-campus Karen Shelton Stadium.
This will also mark the first time ESPN has televised the NCAA Field Hockey Championships since 1987. UNC last hosted the event in 1987 as well.
The semifinals this year are scheduled to take place on May 7, followed by the final on May 9.
“We could not be more excited for the opportunity to add the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship to our extensive portfolio of NCAA coverage,” Dan Margulis, ESPN senior director of programming & acquisitions, said. “Our commitment to NCAA Championships is second to none, and we take pride in showcasing this sport and its incredible female student-athletes in front of a live television audience this year and beyond.”
