The UNC wrestling team wrapped up its first event of the season on Sunday, with a total of eight Tar Heels placing at the Hokie Open in Roanoake, Virginia.
Although UNC didn’t have anyone win the bracket in any weight class, A.C. Headlee (141 pounds), Kennedy Monday (157 pounds), Devin Kane (174 pounds) and Cory Daniel (heavyweight) each took home second-place honors.
Chip Ness (184 pounds) and Austin O’Connor (149 pounds) both earned third-place in their respective weight classes, while Josh McClure (165 pounds) and Chasen Blair both placed fifth.

UNC will have its first dual match of the season next Sunday, when it travels to face Chattanooga.
