Freshman point guard Coby White became the first Tar Heel selected in Thursday night’s 2019 NBA Draft, when the Chicago Bulls took him with the seventh overall pick in the first round.

The all-time leading scorer in North Carolina high school history flashed that same ability during his lone season as a Tar Heel, scoring at least 33 points in three different games–including a career-high 34 in a win against Syracuse back on Feb. 26.

His 16.1 points per game was good enough for second on the team behind graduate transfer Cameron Johnson, while he also dished out a team-high 4.1 assists per game in his only season on campus.

White becomes the fourth UNC player to be drafted after just one year of college since Roy Williams took over the team prior to the 2003-04 season, joining Marvin Williams (2005), Brandan Wright (2007) and Tony Bradley (2017). White is also the 50th Tar Heel selected in the first round of the NBA Draft, the most among all NCAA schools.
