The ACC announced Monday afternoon that UNC point guard Coby White has been named the league’s Player and Freshman of the Week for his outstanding play in the Tar Heels’ last two games.

In UNC’s win over 93-85 win over Syracuse last Tuesday, the Goldsboro native hit six three-pointers, went 10-for-10 from the free throw line and finished with a career-high 34 points.

This past Saturday on the road at Clemson–an 81-79 win–White again hit six three-pointers and led the team with 28 points, his fourth time scoring at least that much in a single game this season.

White’s 62 points are the second-most ever by a UNC freshman in back-to-back games, behind only Tyler Hansbrough’s 65 back in 2006.
