Armando Bacot received another honor from the ACC Monday afternoon. The junior forward was named ACC Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Bacot shined in Carolina’s wins over Louisville and NC State last week. Against the Cardinals, Bacot scored 12 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a 70-63 win. But his performance against the Wolfpack may have been one of the finest of his career. Against an NC State side struggling with frontcourt depth, Bacot dominated by scoring 28 points, grabbing 18 rebounds and blocking five shots. He is the first Tar Heel ever to record a line of 20+ points, 15+ rebounds and 5+ blocks in a single game.

For the season, Bacot is averaging 16.3 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. He is the only player in the ACC currently averaging a double-double, and ranks third in the country with 22 double-doubles so far this season. He is two double-doubles away from breaking UNC’s all-time record of 23 in a single season. Brice Johnson currently holds that record for his performances in the 2015-16 season.

In addition, Bacot leads the ACC in field goal percentage (59.1) and ranks in the top 10 in blocks per game with 1.8. Bacot and the rest of the Tar Heels will take the floor at the Smith Center for Senior Night Monday against Syracuse.
