UNC senior linebacker Chazz Surratt earned yet another preseason honor on Tuesday, when he was named a Preseason Second Team All-American by the Associated Press.

Surratt was previously named a preseason First Team All-American by Street & Smith’s, and has found his name on the watch lists for the Nagurski Trophy, the Lombardi Award, the Butkus Award and the Senior Bowl.

After making the transition to defense prior to last season–having previously been a dual-threat quarterback–Surratt shined in his new role.

He finished the 2019 season with a team-high 115 tackles to go with 6.5 sacks, 10 quarterback hurries and a game-sealing interception on the goal line to beat Duke as time expired.
