UNC senior linebacker Chazz Surratt and junior running back Javonte Williams were each named All-Americans on Tuesday by Sporting News.
Surratt was a First Team selection after leading the Tar Heels defensively with 91 tackles (7.5 for loss), six sacks and an interception.
Since transitioning to linebacker from quarterback prior to the 2019 season, Surratt has twice been a First Team All-ACC performer–racking up 207 tackles and 12.5 sacks. This marks his first All-American honor.
Williams, meanwhile, was placed on the Second Team following a phenomenal season in which he rushed for 1,140 yards and gained another 305 yards receiving. His 22 combined touchdowns also set a new UNC single-season record.
Both Surratt and Williams opted out of the team’s upcoming Orange Bowl appearance in order to focus on preparations for the 2021 NFL Draft.
