The North Carolina baseball team recorded its first series sweep of the season, defeating North Florida 8-5 Sunday in Chapel Hill to wrap up the 3-0 series win and improve to 7-3 on the season.

Following the Carolina series, the Ospreys dropped to 4-6 on the year.

Trent Thornton and Benton Moss delivered solid performances that led UNC to the insurmountable 2-0 series lead. Impressively, Moss threw a complete game win on Saturday.

And on Sunday, freshman pitcher Zac Gallen grabbed his first career win with six good innings. Chris McCue notched his fourth save of the year, shutting out the upset-minded North Florida club in 1.2 innings.

The young Tar Heel bats contributed nicely in the weekend series, producing a total of 16 runs in the three contests at Boshamer Stadium.

Next up for Carolina is a midweek home game on Wednesday against the Davidson Wildcats.
