UNC junior tight end Carl Tucker was among 64 athletes named to the Mackey Award Watch List on Thursday, an honor recognizing the nation’s top players at the position.
Injuries limited Tucker to just four games in 2017, with him catching six passes for a total of 100 yards, but the native of Cornelius, North Carolina has shown a penchant for making big plays when he does get the ball.
As a redshirt freshman in 2016, Tucker had nine catches for 130 yards–including hauling in a 54-yard catch-and-run touchdown from quarterback Mitch Trubisky against Duke.
Should he have a breakout campaign in 2018, Tucker could find himself at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 6 when the Mackey Award is formally presented.
