UNC guard Cameron Johnson underwent an arthroscopic hip procedure on Monday in Minnesota, the university announced in a release on Thursday.
Johnson–a 6-foot-7-inch graduate transfer from Pittsburgh–still has one year of eligibility remaining at the college level.
Before this news, there was speculation wondering whether he would return to Chapel Hill or try to pursue a professional career having already graduated college before arriving at UNC.
Now, though, it appears as if he will, indeed, return to the Tar Heels as the university said in its release that Johnson is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2018-19 campaign–with the assumption later confirmed by Inside Carolina.
Johnson started 20 of the 26 games he played in last year, posting averages of 12.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
