UNC senior forward Brice Johnson has been named first-team All-America by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

The university announced the honor on Monday – one day after Johnson was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament’s East Regional. The Tar Heels knocked off Notre Dame on Sunday night to win the regional and advance to the Final Four.

Johnson was named to the first team by the US Basketball Writers Association earlier this month, which guaranteed that Johnson’s jersey would be honored in the rafters of the Dean Smith Center.

Johnson became the first player in UNC history to record 20 points and 10 rebounds in three consecutive NCAA Tournament games, according to UNC, with his 25-point 12-rebound performance against the Fighting Irish on Sunday.

Johnson’s Elite Eight double-double was his 23rd on the season, which passed the mark previously set by Billy Cunningham.

Johnson is joined on the NACB first team by Virginia senior – and ACC Player of the Year – Malcolm Brogdon, Oklahoma senior Buddy Hield, Michigan State senior Denzel Valentine and LSU freshman Ben Simmons.

UNC will be back in action against Syracuse in the Final Four from Houston on Saturday night.
