After splitting four games over the last week, the North Carolina baseball team fell from fourth to No. 7 in the latest D1Baseball rankings.
The Tar Heels got a mid-week victory over Western Carolina last Tuesday, before hosting Georgia Tech over the weekend.
The Yellow Jackets took two out of three games from the Tar Heels – equaling the total losses from the first 20 games of the season. It was the first series Carolina has lost on the season.
Georgia Tech started the series with a 3-2 win on Thursday. The Tar Heels got a dominate 8-0 win on Friday, but Georgia Tech won the rubber match with a shutout of its own on Saturday by a 6-0 score.
Texas A&M moved up to the top spot in the rankings, followed by Florida, Vanderbilt, Miami and South Carolina in the top five. Louisville and Florida State line up right behind UNC in the rankings at eighth and ninth, respectively. Other ACC teams in the top 25 include Clemson (14), NC State (17), Virginia (20) and Georgia Tech (25).
UNC will host Davidson at six o’clock on Tuesday night before getting back into ACC play on Friday at Miami.
