UNC head men’s basketball coach Roy Williams announced at his press conference on Thursday that senior guard Brandon Robinson will miss the next two to four weeks with a sprained right ankle suffered in the Tar Heels’ loss to Boston College last Saturday.
Robinson suffered the injury with 17 seconds remaining in the 71-70 loss to the Eagles when he tried to contest a three-pointer by Boston College’s Jared Hamilton, as his foot landed awkwardly on Hamilton’s foot.
The Georgia native did not play in Monday’s loss to Florida State, and now appears set to miss extended time.
Robinson began the year by missing the first four games with a sprained ankle, then was involved in a car accident on Jan. 11 which caused him to miss UNC’s double-overtime loss at Virginia Tech due to neck soreness.
In 16 games played in 2019-20, Robinson has averaged 13.1 points and 2.7 assists per game while also serving as UNC’s top threat from three-point range.
Prior to this injury, Robinson had scored at least 20 points in three of his last eight games played–including a career-high 29 points in the Tar Heels’ win over Miami on Jan. 25.
