UNC sophomore outfielder Brandon Riley was named the ACC Baseball Player of the Week on Monday, the first time he’s earned the honor during his young career.

The Burlington native put together nine hits across 16 at-bats in the Tar Heels’ four games last week–a win over East Carolina on Wednesday and a series victory over Miami over the weekend.

This included a pair of home runs, eight RBIs and five runs scored himself.

Riley currently leads the Tar Heels with 21 RBIs–including a team-high 10 RBIs against conference competition–which has helped UNC (18-6, 6-3 ACC) climb to the top of the ACC Coastal Division.

He also ranks third on the team with a .313 batting average for the season, one of four players hitting above .300 for head coach Mike Fox.
