A trip to Boston College didn’t turn out quite the way it needed to for the UNC women’s basketball team, as the Tar Heels lost 93-75 to the Eagles for their fourth consecutive loss–their longest losing streak of the season.

Senior guard Shayla Bennett led the Tar Heels with 17 points, while Medinah Muhammad had 16 and Taylor Koenen added 15 in a game where UNC trailed by just five points at halftime before letting things slip away down the stretch.

Boston College (15-10 8-6 ACC) received 29 points from sophomore forward Taylor Soule and shot 56 percent from the floor. That mark was the second-highest that the Tar Heels (16-10, 7-8 ACC) have allowed all season.

The Tar Heels closed within six points in the fourth quarter, but from there Boston College managed to lock in and put the game away.

“It was just such a defensive breakdown,” UNC head coach Courtney Banghart said afterwards. “It was nice to see our offense come alive. I thought we were aggressive and we attacked in spots. But defensively we were undisciplined and that bothered us throughout the game.”
