CHAPEL HILL–The No. 9 North Carolina women’s basketball team took down Boston College on the road Sunday afternoon 73-56 to improve to 16-3 overall and 4-1 in the ACC.

With the loss, the Eagles dropped to 11-8 on the season and 2-3 in conference. UNC’s Allisha Gray and Xylina McDaniel scored 16 points each to spearhead the Tar Heel offensive attack.

Diamond DeShields added 12 points of her own and Carolina was able to pull away in the second half, leading by as many as 21 points before settling in on the 17-point final margin.

The Tar Heels have managed to emerge victorious in 11 out of their last 12 contests

Kelly Hughes led the way for Boston College with 13 points. The Eagles have now lost three of their last four games.

North Carolina next plays at Wake Forest on Thursday night.
