The Town of Chapel Hill shared a release detailing the closure of a lane on Franklin Street during evenings this week that may affect both motorists and pedestrians.

The release from last Tuesday said the westbound lanes of East Franklin Street and sidewalk from the Post Office to the CVS pharmacy store will be closed nightly from Tuesday, February 18, through the morning of Friday, February 21. The closure will come from a crane being used for roof work in the area.

The town said the crane will be installed at 9 p.m. each night, prompting the lane closure, and will be removed by 6 a.m. the following day.

Two-way traffic will be maintained during the project, one lane in each direction, according to the release. The sidewalk on the south side of Franklin Street will also remain open.

The Town of Chapel Hill said the project is weather permitting and residents can find any adjustments to the closure schedule on its Facebook page and website.
