The first-ever Women’s Professional Lacrosse League Collegiate Draft was held Monday night, with UNC senior midfielder Marie McCool becoming the No. 2 overall pick by the Baltimore Brave.

McCool is a two-time First Team All-American selection, who has a good shot at earning a third honor later this year. She was also one of just two active college players to have a spot on the 2017 U.S. Women’s National Team, which won the World Cup in England last July.

For her career as a Tar Heel to this point, she’s scored a whopping 175 goals and dished out 54 assists–all in just 82 games.

Stony Brook’s Kylie Ohlmiller was the only player drafted ahead of McCool on Monday, going No. 1 overall to the New York Fight.

All 25 players drafted will join the league following their graduation from school, and the end of their final college seasons for those playing in the upcoming NCAA Tournament–like McCool.

The WPLL is playing its first season this year and consists of five teams. In addition to the college players drafted, the league is filled out with talented players from around the world who garnered numerous accolades during their own time in college.

McCool’s first game with Baltimore is scheduled for June 2 at 4:00 p.m. against the Philadelphia Fire.
