Thursday night marked the release of the ACC men’s basketball conference schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season, with UNC set to begin its regular season at the Smith Center on Wednesday, Nov. 6 with its conference opener against Notre Dame.

The league has seven conference games scheduled for opening week, as a way to promote the brand new ACC Network–where many of those games will be televised. This is also the first season where each team will play 20 conference games.

UNC hasn’t opened the regular season with a conference game since 1966-67, when it faced Clemson.

Following the season opener and a Dec. 7 road battle at Virginia–a game sandwiched in between a 12-game non-conference slate–the Tar Heels return to ACC action for good on Jan. 4 with a home game against Georgia Tech.

Notre Dame (Nov. 6, Feb. 17) and Virginia (Dec. 7, Feb. 15) are two of six teams that UNC will face twice this season, along with Duke (Feb. 8, Mar. 7), Wake Forest (Feb. 11, Mar. 3), NC State (Jan. 27, Feb. 25) and Pittsburgh (Jan. 8, Jan. 18).

Teams that the Tar Heels will only see in Chapel Hill this season include: Georgia Tech, Clemson (Jan. 11), Miami (Jan. 25) and Boston College (Feb. 1).

UNC will face the following teams on the road only: Virginia Tech (Jan. 22), Florida State (Feb. 3), Louisville (Feb. 22) and Syracuse (Feb. 29).

The ACC Tournament makes its return to Greensboro this year, and is scheduled to run from March 10-14.
