Anticipation for the beginning of UNC’s next football season grew even higher on Wednesday, as the ACC released the full 2019 schedule for each of its teams.

New head coach Mack Brown’s second tenure with the Tar Heels will begin on Aug. 31 with the Belk College Kickoff Game in Charlotte against South Carolina.

The home opener at Kenan Stadium is scheduled the next week for Sept. 7, when UNC hosts Miami and its new head coach, Manny Diaz.

A pair of non-conference games against Wake Forest (Thursday, Sept. 12) and Appalachian State (Sept. 21) are set to follow, with the game against the Demon Deacons not counting in the ACC standings despite both teams belonging to the league.

On Sept. 28, Clemson will become the first reigning national champions to visit Kenan Stadium, in what will surely be the Tar Heels’ toughest test of the year.

From there, UNC will play back-to-back conference road games around a bye week. The first of those games is in Atlanta against Georgia Tech (Oct. 5), followed by a trip to Lane Stadium to face Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on Oct. 19.

Next up are home games against Duke (Oct. 26)–this year’s scheduled homecoming–and another against Virginia on Nov. 2.

Another bye week comes after the showdown with Virginia, setting up another Thursday night primetime game–this one a trip to Heinz Field on Nov. 14 to take on Pittsburgh.

Senior Day on Nov. 23 will see the Tar Heels battle FCS opponent Mercer, before they close the year in Raleigh at Carter-Finley Stadium against NC State on Nov. 30.
