The UNC men’s and women’s golf teams will play at one of the most historic courses in the world next season. Both teams will take part in the first-ever St Andrews Links Collegiate tournament in Scotland this coming October.

“We are thrilled and thankful to be part of the inaugural St Andrews Collegiate,” said men’s team head coach Andrew DiBitetto. “This new tournament will be an incredible experience and opportunity for our golf programs, especially our student-athletes.”

The four-team event also includes Georgetown, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. Two rounds of stroke play will take place at the club’s Jubilee Course, followed by one day of match play at the famous Old Course, which has hosted The Open Championship 30 times and is the oldest course in the world.

NBC Sports will broadcast the event on the Golf Channel and Peacock.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our programs to play at one of the most revered courses in golf in an event televised by the Golf Channel,” said women’s team head coach Aimee Neff. “We take pride in providing our student-athletes with amazing experiences that will give them lifetime memories. Having the opportunity to play the course steeped with the most history is a gift. We want to make history of our own there and represent Tar Heels everywhere with pride.”

The men’s team has played at St Andrews three times, but has not made the trip since 2010. The women’s team has never played at the venue.

Both the men’s and women’s golf teams are coming off NCAA postseason appearances in 2023, with the men’s team reaching the national semifinals.
