Following its 40-7 win against Syracuse to move to 5-0 on the season, the UNC football team rose two more spots to No. 12 in Sunday’s latest AP Poll.

Other ACC teams in the poll include No. 4 Florida State, No. 14 Louisville, No. 17 Duke and No. 25 Miami. Clemson also received votes but was not ranked. The Hurricanes could’ve been higher, but suffered a stunning, last-second loss to Georgia Tech late on Saturday night to fall to 4-1. Miami will face the Tar Heels in Kenan Stadium on Saturday night. The Blue Devils will visit Chapel Hill in November. The Seminoles and Cardinals join the Tar Heels as three of 14 undefeated teams in FBS college football.

Carolina’s ranking is its highest in the AP Poll since debuting at No. 10 in the AP Poll before the 2021 season, though that ranking was immediately followed by a loss at Virginia Tech. The Tar Heels were out of the poll completely by Week 5. For a full look at the poll, click here.

UNC will be back in action this weekend against the Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m.
