The UNC football team now knows its complete roadmap towards getting back to the ACC Championship and a fifth consecutive bowl game under head coach Mack Brown. The team’s full regular season schedule was revealed Monday night, the first in the new division-less ACC scheduling model. Under this model, a team will play three conference opponents annually (for UNC, they are Duke, Virginia and NC State), while alternating the 10 other conferences foes five at a time each year.

Carolina will begin its season with three consecutive non-conference games. First, the Tar Heels will head to Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte to face South Carolina on September 2. It’s the first matchup between the two since the Duke’s Mayo Bowl at the end of the 2021 season, which the Gamecocks won. That game was also played in Charlotte.

Next, UNC opens its home slate against Appalachian State on September 9, in the final game of a three-game series with the Mountaineers. The Tar Heels then host Minnesota in Kenan Stadium the following weekend, in the first-ever matchup in football between the two schools.

ACC play begins the next week, September 23, as Carolina travels to Pitt. UNC hasn’t won at Pitt since Brown returned to Chapel Hill in 2019. After a bye week, UNC will host Syracuse on October 7 in the first of three consecutive home games. Clashes against Miami on October 14 and Virginia on October 21 will follow. The Tar Heels won their most recent meeting against each of those three schools, defeating Syracuse in an empty Kenan Stadium during the 2020 “COVID season” and beating the Hurricanes and Cavaliers in 2022. Carolina has won four consecutive games against Miami.

The Tar Heels will hit the road again on October 28, traveling down to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets have had Carolina’s number of late, winning four out of the last five meetings, including an upset over then-No. 13 UNC in Kenan Stadium last season.

Carolina will take a break from ACC play on November 4, hosting FCS foe Campbell in Chapel Hill.

But the going gets tough after that. UNC will celebrate an early Senior Day on November 11 against Duke, as the Blue Devils will try to snap a four-game losing streak to Carolina in the Battle for the Victory Bell. The following week, November 18, brings about a rematch of the 2022 ACC Championship as the Tar Heels travel down to Clemson. It’s UNC’s first trip to Memorial Stadium since the 2014 season. The program hasn’t won there since 2001, and the Tigers have won five straight in the series overall.

Finally, the regular season ends as always with a rivalry battle between Carolina and NC State. UNC will travel to Carter-Finley Stadium on November 25 for its first visit since a heartbreaking 34-30 defeat in Raleigh to end the 2021 season. The Wolfpack have won the last two meetings between the schools, both of which came down to the final play.

In addition, Carolina’s annual Spring Game is scheduled for April 15 at 3 p.m.
