In the wake of UNC officially launching its online marketplace for name, image and likeness deals, one program is already making moves. On Thursday, several UNC football players, including defensive lineman Kaimon Rucker, cornerback Storm Duck and wide receiver Josh Downs, shared a message on Twitter announcing the formation of the Chapel Hill NIL Club.
The Chapel Hill NIL Club’s website describes the organization as “a player-led fan community that benefits members of the UNC football team,” and “the single best way to engage with players and ensure UNC is a dominant leader in the era of name, image, and likeness.”
“Through the Chapel Hill NIL Club, these members of the team provide fans with digital content and experiences such as digital meet-and-greets, player-recorded content, and much more throughout the year,” the website reads. “The CHNC generates revenue through fans subscribing to the club.”
For a donation of at least $25 per month, fans can receive a free football jersey. Minimum donations are set at $5 per month, though according to the website, the players “hope to get this even lower in the near future.” No maximum amount is set. Proceeds are split equally among participating players at the end of each month.
The website states the club’s financial goal is $50,000 per month. Interested fans can make a donation to the club by clicking here.
