Both UNC basketball teams moved in the latest AP Polls, which were released Monday. The men’s team rose two spots from No. 14 to No. 12 (its highest of the season), while the women’s team dropped six spots from No. 12 to No. 18 (its lowest of the season).

The men’s team played only once during the past week, beating USC Upstate 80-62 at the Smith Center Saturday afternoon. The Tar Heels are now 9-1 on the season, which matches the program’s best start through 10 games since the 2017-18 season. Carolina is the third-highest ranked ACC team in the poll, behind No. 3 Duke and No. 11 Louisville. Virginia, also 9-1 this season, checks in at No. 23, while Clemson, Cal, Notre Dame and Miami each received votes. Check out the full poll here.

UNC will return to action Tuesday night at 8 p.m. when it hosts East Tennessee State at the Smith Center.

The women’s team let a chance at a signature win slip away Sunday evening when it hosted Louisville in the Smith Center. The Tar Heels led 66-63 in the final seconds but let the Cardinals tie the game before losing 76-66 in overtime. UNC is now 9-3 overall this season but 0-3 against ranked opponents. Elsewhere in the ACC, Louisville checks in at No. 16 in the poll while Notre Dame is ranked No. 20. Check out the full women’s poll here.

Carolina will be back in action when it hosts UNC-Wilmington at Carmichael Arena Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
