Both the UNC men’s and women’s basketball teams are ranked in the latest editions of the AP Poll, which were released Monday. The men (17-4, 5-3 ACC) rose two spots to No. 14, while the women (17-5, 6-3 ACC) are back in the poll at No. 25 after three consecutive weeks unranked.

The men played only once during the past week, traveling down to Atlanta and beating Georgia Tech 91-75. The Tar Heels jumped two spots thanks to several teams in front of them losing, including then-No. 13 BYU (down to No. 16 this week after a loss at Kansas) and then-No. 15 Arkansas (down to No. 21 after a loss to Kentucky). Texas Tech, ranked No. 11 in last week’s poll, is one spot ahead of the Tar Heels at No. 13 despite a loss at UCF.

Duke remains the highest ACC team in the poll at No. 4. The Blue Devils will visit Chapel Hill Saturday evening for the first of two games against the Tar Heels. Elsewhere in the ACC, Virginia comes in at No. 18, Clemson at No. 20 and Louisville at No. 24. NC State and Miami also received votes. For a full look at the men’s poll, click here.

UNC returns to action Monday night when it hosts Syracuse at the Smith Center at 7 p.m.

On the women’s side, head coach Courtney Banghart’s team returned to the AP Poll despite not playing a game this past week. The Tar Heels play three times this week though, including a Monday night rivalry matchup against NC State in Raleigh at 6 p.m.

Louisville is the highest ACC team at No. 6, with Duke checking in at No. 17 as the only other ranked conference team. NC State also received votes. For a full look at the women’s poll, click here.
