
The Diamond Heels are one of several ACC and regional teams represented in the D1 Baseball preseason poll, which was released on Tuesday. Carolina is ranked No. 15 in the poll.
Also representing the ACC in the poll are No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 10 Clemson, No. 12 Duke, No. 13 NC State and No. 14 Virginia. Elsewhere in the Carolinas, East Carolina is ranked No. 11, Coastal Carolina No. 18 and South Carolina No. 25. For a full look at the poll, click here.
UNC is scheduled to face seven ranked teams during the course of the 2024 season. Carolina plays a hybrid three-game series with ECU between February 23 and 25 (one game in Chapel Hill, one in Fayetteville and one in Greenville), visits Wake Forest from March 29 through 31, and Virginia from April 4 through 6.
The Diamond Heels will also play their annual game against South Carolina in Charlotte on April 9, looking to snap a two-game losing streak to the Gamecocks. UNC then hosts Coastal Carolina on April 16, before visiting NC State from April 18 through 20. A road series at Duke is scheduled for May 16 through 18.
Carolina is coming off a 36-24 season which saw the Diamond Heels advance to the ACC Tournament semifinals and appear in the Terre Haute, IN regional of the NCAA Tournament. UNC is seeking its first appearance in the College World Series since 2018.
The regular season will get underway on Friday, February 16 when Carolina hosts Wagner at 4 p.m. in the first of a three-game series.
