The UNC baseball program will enter its second season under head coach Scott Forbes in 2022, and the Diamond Heels announced the team’s regular season schedule Tuesday. UNC will attempt to qualify for its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament this year, and advance to its first College World Series since 2018.

UNC opens with a three-game series at home against Seton Hall between February 18 and 20, which is part of five consecutive home games to begin the season. The fifth of those games is a home matchup with East Carolina. It opens a three-game series with the Pirates, with the second game played in Greensboro and the third played on the campus of ECU. 2016 College World Series champions Coastal Carolina will visit Boshamer Stadium for a three-game series between March 4 and 6. A home series with Pittsburgh the following week will open ACC play for the Diamond Heels.

In what is becoming a yearly tradition, UNC will face off against South Carolina at Truist Field in Charlotte on April 5. Carolina defeated the Gamecocks last season in the Queen City.

A critical two-week stretch of the season will see Carolina play road series at 2021 College World Series participants Virginia and NC State in late April and early May. UNC took two of three games from the Cavaliers last season, but were swept by the Wolfpack. A home series with Florida State between May 19 and 21 concludes Carolina’s regular season, with the ACC Tournament being played the next week in Charlotte.
