UNC quarterback Sam Howell had his best game of the season Saturday night against Virginia, and the awards are already rolling in for the junior.

Howell was already named the ACC’s Quarterback of the Week, and Tuesday he made the Davey O’Brien’s “Great 8” list for the second straight week. He was the only ACC quarterback to make this week’s list, and is already on the award’s year-long watch list. The Davey O’Brien Award honors the nation’s top collegiate quarterback.

The Manning Award, another national quarterback award for which Howell is also on the year-long watch list, also named Howell one of its eight “Stars of the Week.”

The Maxwell Award, which honors the top college football player at any position, also honored Howell with its National Player of the Week Award. As with the O’Brien and Manning Awards, Howell is also on the Maxwell Award’s year-long watch list.

UNC football fans can participate in voting for yet another award for Howell: the AAU Sullivan Award. The Sullivan Award honors “the outstanding amateur athlete in the United States.” Previous winners include Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott and Florida’s Tim Tebow. Howell is among a list of 2021 nominees which includes Olympic gold medalists Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee. To see the full list of nominees and to vote for Howell, click here.
