Embattled former UNC guard Jalek Felton–who was suspended by the university midway through his freshman year this past season–has chosen to begin his professional career overseas.
The Tar Heels’ top incoming recruit prior to last season, Felton agreed to sign a contract with Petrol Olimpija in Slovenia–a deal the team announced this past Friday.
After Felton’s suspension for an unspecified incident, he chose later on to withdraw from the school and pursue other college choices.
Although his lawyer, Kerry Sutton, has declined to talk about details of Felton’s case, she told the Associated Press that her client “needed to get back on the court” and signing to play in Slovenia was the “quickest way to do it.”
In 22 games at UNC, Felton averaged 2.9 points and 1.6 assists per game.
