The San Francisco 49ers announced Wednesday that they have agreed to a one-year deal with former UNC offensive lineman William Sweet.

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Sweet started 14 games and appeared in 26 during his three-year career with the Tar Heels from 2016-18.

After forgoing his senior season to declare for the 2019 NFL Draft, Sweet was not selected–instead signing as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals placed him on the waived/injured list last August, where he spent the entire season before being waived by the team in February of 2020.

He will now try to make the roster for the 49ers, who were dominant up front and in the running game last season on the way to an appearance in the Super Bowl.
