The Dallas Cowboys made a move on Thursday to bolster their defense for the upcoming NFL season, acquiring former UNC defensive end Robert Quinn from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for 2020 sixth-round draft pick.
A former first-round selection by the St. Louis Rams back in 2011 coming out of college, Quinn has recorded 69 sacks through his eight-year career–including a career-high 19 back in 2013.
After spending the first seven seasons of his pro career with the Rams, he spent last year with the Dolphins and picked up 6.5 sacks and started all 16 games.
The Cowboys are still in the process of trying to agree to a long-term contract extension with star defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, so adding Quinn is with the idea of building depth at the position.
Upon being traded to Dallas, Quinn agreed to a new one-year deal worth approximately $8 million with an opportunity to make an extra $1 million in incentives.
