Senior forward Alan Winn became the third Tar Heel men’s soccer player to join the professional ranks this week, when he was selected in the second round (25th overall) of Friday’s MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids.

Prior to the draft, midfielder Cam Lindley signed with Orlando City FC and forward Zach Wright signed with Sporting KC by way of MLS’s Homegrown Player Rule.

Winn now becomes the latest Tar Heel to get his shot after scoring a team-high 11 goals this past season–earning him Second Team All-American and First Team All-ACC honors.

He was an All-ACC selection following each of his four years at UNC, finishing his career with 23 goals and 14 assists.

The Tar Heels have also competed in each of the last two NCAA College Cups–soccer’s Final Four–with Winn leading the way up front.

In total, UNC has now had 49 players join an MLS club since 2000.
