The Diamond Heels needed only seven innings to blow out visiting UNC-Wilmington on Tuesday night at Boshamer Stadium. Carolina scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings to record an 11-0 win, its 20th in a row at home. The game was called in the seventh due to the 10-Run Rule.

Carolina’s hot bats got the scoring started early, as Vance Honeycutt and Parks Harber each recorded RBIs in a two-run first. In the second, Gavin Gallaher drove in another run with a single before Honeycutt and Alberto Osuna both walked with the bases loaded. UNC scored its fourth run of the inning on a throwing error.

Harber and Casey Cook picked up a pair of RBIs each in the third and fourth innings before the Diamond Heels finally let up on the gas. Gallaher, a freshman, is now batting .421, with the sophomore Cook not far behind at .404. The top four hitters in Carolina’s lineup accounted for 10 of the game’s 11 runs.

On the mound, Olin Johnson recorded his first win of his collegiate career with four shutout innings. He struck out four and walked one. Connor Bovair, Kyle Percival and Will Simmons combined for the final three scoreless innings.

The Diamond Heels are now 18-4 overall and have scored 29 combined runs in their last two games. Carolina will have a chance to extend its home winning streak this weekend when Georgia Tech visits for a three-game ACC series. First pitch in Friday’s opener is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
