UNC is adding a major presence to its frontcourt.

Seven-foot forward Henri Veesaar, who spent the previous three years with Arizona, committed to head coach Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels Friday afternoon. As a redshirt sophomore, Veesaar will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Veesaar, originally from Estonia, joined Arizona before the 2022-23 season. He played sparingly for the Wildcats as a true freshman, averaging 2.4 points and 7.1 minutes per game. After redshirting the 2023-24 season with an elbow injury, Veesaar came on strong in his return to the court. He appeared in all 37 of Arizona’s games during the 2024-25 campaign while starting five, and his minutes jumped to nearly 21 per game. Veesaar ranked fourth among his teammates in scoring (9.4 points per game) and led the Wildcats in rebounding (5.0 per game).

A versatile big man, Veesaar also has a three-point shot in his repertoire; he shot 32.7 percent from distance this past season. His two-point percentage of 66.9 percent was the highest among all Wildcats who took at least one shot per game. Elsewhere, Veesaar averaged 1.1 blocked shots per game and shot 68.6 percent on free throws.

Veesaar is the second player to commit to UNC out of the transfer portal during the 2025 offseason. He joins former West Virginia Mountaineer Jonathan Powell, who committed to the program April 1.
