Both the UNC men’s and women’s basketball teams rose in the latest editions of the AP Poll, which were released on Monday. Following wins against Louisville and Boston College – and a loss by former No. 3 Kansas – the men’s team rose one spot from No. 4 to No. 3. The women’s team earned wins against Georgia Tech and No. 13 Louisville to move up three spots from No. 23 to No. 20.

On the men’s side, the Tar Heels are one of just two ACC teams ranked in this week’s poll. Duke comes in at No. 12, having fallen five spots following a home loss to Pitt on Saturday. NC State received one vote. Joining Carolina in the poll’s Top 5 are No. 1 UConn, No. 2 Purdue, No. 4 Houston and No. 5 Tennessee. For a full look at the poll, click here.

The ACC is well-represented in the women’s poll, as Carolina is one of seven league members to earn a ranking. NC State sits at No. 7, Notre Dame at No. 15, Louisville at No. 18, Virginia Tech at No. 19, Syracuse at No. 22 and Florida State at No. 23. The Tar Heels have a 3-1 record against that group, with wins against the Cardinals, Orange and Fighting Irish and a loss to the Seminoles. Miami, Carolina’s next opponent, received two votes.
