Courtney Banghart has secured another big win on the recruiting trail.

Nyla Brooks, who is rated as a five-star prospect in the recruiting class of 2025, committed to Banghart and the Tar Heels on Thursday. Brooks is the second five-star prospect in the class to commit to Carolina in the span of a week, as Taliyah Henderson announced her intention to come to Chapel Hill on August 23.

A six-foot, one-inch wing out of Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, VA, Brooks chose Carolina over offers from several other schools, including Tennessee, Georgia and Maryland. A former Tennessee commit, Brooks decommitted from the Lady Vols when the program fired head coach Kellie Harper after the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.

ESPN rates Brooks as the No. 14 player in the class of 2025, seven spots ahead of her future teammate Henderson. Brooks is the second prospect in the class to commit to Carolina. Both players will join the Tar Heels as the program loses starters Alyssa Ustby, Maria Gakdeng and Lexi Donarski after the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.
