Chapel Hill: Condolences to CHPD, Budget Proposal, ARPA Funds

Chapel Hill Mayor Pam Hemminger spoke with 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey on Thursday, May 11th. She offered condolences to the family and loved ones of Chapel Hill Police Officer Mike Mineer, who died in an automobile accident off duty earlier this week. Also included is a lengthy discussion of the initial budget proposal from Interim Town Manager Chris Blue. The budget proposal increases the budget 11% from the previous year. She also discussed the use of the town’s ARPA funds–as voted on by the public.

Chapel Hill Mayor Pam Hemminger spoke with 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey on Thursday, May 4th. She discussed her participation at a conference of the Regional Transportation Alliance. She discussed a federal shift in focus from light rail to Bus Rapid Transit, and what that means for Chapel Hill going forward. They also discussed graduation weekend for UNC, and she responded to some of the controversial bills being advanced through the General Assembly. She also discussed the town council’s complete communities work session, where the council discussed recommendations for increasing density and affordability of housing in Chapel Hill. The council discussed allowing for more duplexes in future town development.
