Forbes has named UNC one of its 10 “New Ivies,” a group of schools which approach the quality and prestige of an Ivy League institution while producing “smart, driven graduates craved by employers of all types,” according to a release.

In compiling the list, Forbes analyzed 2022 admissions data from more than 1,700 schools, then screened for schools with high standardized test scores and a selective admission rate. It then surveyed hiring managers about the remaining institutions before paring them down to 10 public and 10 private schools. UNC was the only school in North Carolina to make the list.

The other nine public institutions are Binghamton, Georgia Tech, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin. For a full look at Forbes’ list, click here.

Carolina has received several honors from national publications recently. The Princeton Review ranked the school fourth on its list of best value public universities, while also ranking fourth on U.S. News & World Report’s most recent ranking of American public universities and No. 22 overall. U.S. News & World Report also ranked 20 UNC graduate programs among the nation’s top 10 in their respective fields this spring.
