Several UNC graduate programs were ranked in the top 10 of their respective categories by the U.S. News & World Report this week. Rankings are based on a survey of peers from accredited institutions across the country.

“Carolina’s graduate programs are exceptional, and it’s no surprise that our schools are ranked so highly,” said interim chancellor Lee Roberts. “Carolina is always proud to be recognized for our dedication to a world-class education. Every one of our graduate programs contributes to making us the leading public research university.”

In total, 20 programs were among the top 10 in the nation, while 23 increased their rankings from the last cycle.

The Eshelman School of Pharmacy earned the top spot among U.S. pharmacy schools for the third consecutive four-year cycle. The Gillings School of Public Health ranked No. 2 in its field (consisting of 213 schools) and first among public institutions. The School of Social Work tied for fourth overall and second among public schools, the School of Nursing tied for eighth in master’s programs and the School of Law ranked seventh among public schools.

“These rankings represent the hard work of our faculty, staff and students who are dedicated to moving Carolina forward through their incredible efforts each day,” said provost Chris Clemens. “It is gratifying to see this public recognition of their commitment to the mission of our graduate programs in research, teaching and public service.”
