When UNC students begin classes again in the fall they’ll have a new option for lunch: a Bojangles.
A location of the popular chicken and biscuit chain restaurant will be located on the bottom floor of the Carolina Union, according to the Carolina Dining Services website. Bojangles will replace a Wendy’s location, which also previously operated as a campus COVID-19 vaccination clinic in 2021. The former Wendy’s opened in August 2012.
Bojangles is not entirely new to the UNC campus. The franchise is a food vendor at Carolina Athletics events selling at Carolina baseball, football and basketball games.
The restaurant chain also has a promotion tied to Carolina men’s basketball. When the Tar Heels score 100 points at home, fans get two biscuits for one dollar the next day. It is not yet clear if this deal will apply to the campus location as well.
The university confirmed plans to Chapelboro about bringing a Bojangles to campus.
“We are in the process of replacing the former Wendy’s with a Bojangles, with plans to open in the fall semester. The Bojangles hours will be coordinated with the Student Union operating hours and will include some late-night hours. The menu will be similar to local Bojangles. This venue change was approved by the Student Union Board of Directors and the Student Dining Board.”
