Former UNC basketball player Melvin Scott has reportedly been charged with second-degree rape, following an incident that occurred on August 20 in Durham.
Scott was arrested on Friday and is in Durham County jail under a $500,000 bond.
Originally from Baltimore, Melvin Scott was a member of UNC’s 2005 national championship team. He played pro basketball in Europe for several seasons before returning to the area; the Durham Herald-Sun reports he worked recently as a phys-ed teacher at the charter school Voyager Academy.
