2024 was another amazing year of music for folks who love music. New music was plentiful this year, from brand new artists to hall of fame rock bands and everything in between. The bench was very deep for top songs, and our list reflects that. As the music team crafted our list of top songs for the year with great listener feedback, it quickly became clear that some outstanding songs were going to left on the cutting room floor. The result is a list of 97 songs that are all outstanding. And as advertised, we think they get better and better the closer to the top of the list you get.

Before we get to the list, here are some fun facts about this year’s countdown. Ten artists appear on the list more than once, and four of those artists have three songs on the list. Fourteen artists from this year’s list also appeared on last year’s list.

Local artists made a huge impact on this year’s countdown as well. There are 18 songs from local artists this year, up from nine last year. Those local songs floated to the top as well, with 13 in the top 50. Seven of the top 20 are from local artists, and four of the top five. The local music scene is as strong as ever, and we expect even more great things in 2025.
