Two pedestrians were being treated for serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Chapel Hill on Tuesday.

Authorities said officers responded to a report of the traffic collision just before 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. Officials said the two pedestrians were transported to the UNC Hospital Emergency Room for related injuries.

The collision occurred in the crosswalk on West Rosemary Street in front of Shortbread Lofts.

The driver of the vehicle was cited with failure to reduce speed and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
