With rain and wind battering North Carolina in recent days, falling trees have become a common sight throughout Orange County and the Triangle area.
On Wednesday, a large 150-year-old tree fell on UNC’s campus at McCorkle Place. The tree collapsed near the entrance of Alumni Hall, a building that holds the university’s Anthropology and Archaeology departments.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office shared additional information regarding downed trees in the area on Thursday morning.
The featured image above shows an uprooted tree on Wyngate Drive off Lawrence Road. The image below shows a downed tree in Durham County off of Ebenezer Church Road. Orange County authorities assisted in the cleanup from the Orange County side.

Additionally, authorities are working to remove a tree that is blocking a portion of North Estes Drive in Chapel Hill. A falling tree has already been removed from Fordham Boulevard between Estes Drive and Cleland Drive.
With rain and winds expected to continue throughout Thursday, authorities are urging caution when traveling.
