With rain and wind battering North Carolina in recent days, falling trees have become a common sight throughout Orange County and the Triangle area.
On Wednesday, a large 150-year-old tree fell on UNC’s campus at McCorkle Place. The tree collapsed near the entrance of Alumni Hall, a building that holds the university’s Anthropology and Archaeology departments.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office shared additional information regarding downed trees in the area on Thursday morning.

Additionally, authorities are working to remove a tree that is blocking a portion of North Estes Drive in Chapel Hill. A falling tree has already been removed from Fordham Boulevard between Estes Drive and Cleland Drive.
With rain and winds expected to continue throughout Thursday, authorities are urging caution when traveling.
