UPDATE: The teenager struck while walking along U.S. 70/Cornelius Street died on Thursday, according to the Hillsborough Police Department.
The pedestrian had been hospitalized with injuries from the Sept. 13 collision. Police said Monica Dove now faces an additional charge of death by vehicle.

A teenaged pedestrian is in “serious condition” after being struck by a driver while walking on Friday afternoon.
A release from the Hillsborough Police Department on Saturday detailed the collision, which took place at 4:10 p.m. along U.S. 70/Cornelius Street. A 15-year-old was walking on the south side of the road near Central Avenue, when a driver traveling eastbound hit him with their vehicle. The teenager was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of “serious injuries” and remains hospitalized as of Saturday morning, according to the town’s alert.
The driver, 51-year-old Monica Dove of Efland, faces charges of driving while impaired and possession of a Schedule II substance said Hillsborough Police. Additional charges could be pending, according to Saturday’s release, as police are continuing to investigate the collision.
A spokesperson for the town and police department said no other information is being made publicly available as of Saturday afternoon.
