A teenage swimmer who went missing at Jordan Lake on the evening of the Fourth of July has prompted a search by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, alongside multiple partner agencies.
The swimmer was reported missing at approximately 6:30 p.m. after having trouble in the water while attempting to return to a boat during an outing with family. Authorities began searching the lake soon after.
According to a release shared at 10:53 p.m. on July 4, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office has suspended its search for the evening and will resume the morning of Sunday, July 5.
The partner agencies assisting the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office include the North Chatham Fire Department, Chatham County Emergency Management, FirstHealth EMS, Alamance County Rescue, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and North Carolina State Parks.
“The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office thanks all assisting agencies and personnel for their continued efforts and support during this search,” the release read.
