Two roads in Carrboro were closed Tuesday afternoon as a damaged gas line was repaired.

A release from the Carrboro town government shortly before 1 p.m. alerted the community to avoid the area of Davie Road and Fidelity Street due to a gas leak. Dominion Energy confirmed to Chapelboro the leak was caused by third-party damage and that the leak was secured at 1:43 p.m.

Carrboro Fire and Rescue crews arrived to the scene shortly after the initial report and evacuated residents from a nearby building on the 400 block of Davie Road, according to the town’s alert.

As Dominion Energy crews work to repair the gas line, the Town of Carrboro said Davie Road is closed to traffic from Poplar Avenue to Glosson Circle. Fidelity Street is also closed.
