There is no heat at Rashkis Elementary School, which coupled with the cold temperatures starting Tuesday morning is causing the school to close for the day.

Chapel Hill – Carrboro City School officials said that buses will be picking students up at 9:30 a.m. to take the students home and that walkers and car riders may be picked up at any time. After school activities have also been canceled for Tuesday.

CHCCS spokesperson Jeff Nash said that this is the second heating issue at Rashkis in recent weeks and that crews were on the scene working to fix the issue. Nash said an additional message would be sent out to families on Tuesday evening regarding the status of classes for Wednesday.
