Motorists who use the park and ride service offered at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill should take note of where they park beginning Monday.
Chapel Hill Transit alerted the community about a change to parking for the S route, saying the Friday Center South Park and Ride lot will be closed starting Monday.
The lot will be closing due to the excess of parking available with many UNC students no longer commuting to campus, since the university moved to remote instruction shortly after the fall semester began. The S route will continue to serving all stops along NC Highway 54 and there will be no changes to the schedule.
The Friday Center South Park and Ride Lot (formally the NC 54 Park and Ride lot) will close on Monday 9/21 until further notice. Customers on the S route should use the Friday Center Park and Ride.@MoveUNC

Community members who plan to use the S bus line are now encouraged to use the normal Friday Center Park and Ride lot.
The S route is one of many Chapel Hill Transit is running right now, despite limited service due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The transit system implemented its new, simplified route system in early August.
